Box Office Report: Rani Mukerji’s ‘Hichki’ Earns Rs 3.30 Crores On Its First Day

Rani Mukerji’s comeback film, Hichki, opened to a decent Rs 3.30 crores on March 23. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s box office performance, and compared it to the performance of other films with women in the lead.

On Saturday, this Siddharth P Malhotra directorial earned over Rs 8 crores, in addition to recovering its costs via non-theatre platforms.

“While the theatrical biz is going strong, Yash Raj has already recovered *entire* investment [Rs 20 crore] from non-theatrical platforms [Digital, Satellite, Music],” Taran Adarsh tweeted.

As of Sunday, the film had crossed Rs 15 crores at India’s box office.

Movies like Tumhari Sulu, Mom, Begum Jaan, etc opened to not more than Rs 3 crores. Unlike films that focus on the male lead, like Raid which opened to Rs 10 crores, films with a female lead rarely mint a lot of money that early. Anushka Sharma’s Pari, on the other hand, earned Rs 4.36 crores – considered to be a rather good opening.
