Box Office Roundup: ‘Tadap’ Earns Rs 13 Crore in 1st Weekend; ‘Antim’ Drops Off, but ‘Sooryavanshi’ Still Going Strong

Tadap, which stars newcomer Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria, has managed to have a good first weekend at the box office, earning Rs 13 crore (nett), as per Box Office India. The film has also performed better than recent releases like Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Satyameva Jayate 2.

Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Tadap is the Hindi remake of the 2018 Telugu movie RX 100.

The film, which released on Friday, earned the most on Sunday, with collections going over Rs 5 crore (nett), while it earned Rs 4 crore (nett) each on Saturday and Friday. According to the report, Tadap did not see much footfall from the family crowd in the Hindi belt due to its content, which pulled its Sunday numbers down a little.

The Luthria-directorial performed best in Delhi and UP, making around Rs 3 crore (nett) business in those regions. On the other hand, the film performed poorly in East Punjab, West Bengal and Mysore, while Mumbai, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar saw decent numbers.

It would have done better in the Telugu states, but Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Akhanda, which released on Thursday, drew the crowds away.

Meanwhile, Antim: The Final Truth, which got a good opening, had a poorer showing in its second weekend. The film only saw collections in the Rs 5.25 crore range. The Salman Khan-starrer has reached Rs 33 crore (nett) after two weeks, but was expected to collect at least Rs 40 crore, according to BOI.

Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, has seen decent numbers this weekend despite running in theatres for over four weeks now and facing competition from other Hindi films. The film’s run is likely coming to an end as it has been released on Netflix. However, according to BOI, it might rake in a total of Rs 196 crore before it leaves theatres.
