The Silambarasan-starrer Vaalu, which was set to release on July 17 has courted more trouble. According to a report in The Hindu, a case has been filed against the release of the film at the Madras High court by Magic Rays, a distribution firm.

Magic Rays has claimed that the release rights of Vaalu in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Pondicherry were bought by them in 2013 for Rs 10 crores. Despite this, the film is now being released by Chimbu Cine Arts, they alleged. The firm has hence requested the court to impose a stay on the release of the film by any other distributor.
This case will be investigated by the court on Wednesday.
Vaalu features STR and Hansika in central roles. Actors Santhanam, VTV Ganesh, Brahmanandam, Aadukalam Naren and Misha Ghoshal are part of the supporting cast. Produced by SS Chakravarthy’s Nic Arts, Vaalu has music composed by Thaman. Recently, a song for the film was shot, featuring STR and Hansika.
