Director Cheran was criticized by his followers on Facebook for acting in Gnanam Productions’ Pirivom Sandhippom. The production house – which was later re-christened Lyca Productions – had come under fire recently for its alleged association with Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka.

An irked Cheran then posted a clarification about acting in Pirivom Sandhippom, and requested his followers to not write any insensible posts on his Facebook wall. He said, “When I acted in Pirivom Sandhippom, I had no clue about Gnanam Productions. I agreed to work in the movie for Karu Pazhaniappan. Please do not politicise my connections.”
Cheran further added, “Give a thought before writing lewd comments about Sneha (who starred opposite him in Pirivom Sandhippom.) It’s unfair to write such things about a woman; more surprising that they come from Prabhakaran’s comrades. He treated every woman like his mother.”
