A police complaint was filed against actor-producer-director R Parthiban by his former associate Jayam Kondaan, for allegedly attempting to murder him. Jayam, a lyricist, said in his complaint that he has been working at Parthiban’s house for ten years, and was fired recently following a theft incident. Parthiban responded saying the allegations were completely false.
In his complaint, Jayam stated, “I’ve been working in his office and house for over ten years. I even closed my shop to work with him. When there was a theft incident at his Thiruvanmayur residence last year, he inquired people working at his home and fired some of them. He continued to be associated with me alone. Recently, I tried contacting one of the people fired to speak about a work-related matter. This angered Parthiban. On 8 May, from the third floor of Prem Theatre in Nungambakkam, Parthiban and another person began beating me and they tried to push me down the staircase. I escaped. This incident will be recorded in the CCTV camera too. Like me, many people associated with Parthiban have been affected. There is a threat to my life, and I seek police protection and immediate action.”
In a tweet yesterday, Parthiban denied the attempt to murder and said that Jayam was trying to gain false popularity by raising a wrong complaint and circulating it to the media.
