Zaira Wasim, the 16-year-old actress from Kashmir who starred in last year’s superhit Dangal, managed to escape after her car fell into Dal Lake. According to reports, her car went out of control on the Boulevard Road and fell into the lake.
“Locals immediately rescued her and her companion. She escaped unhurt, but her companion sustained injuries in the accident,” a source tells Times of India.

Zaira Wasim played the role of Geeta Phogat in Dangal, based on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, and his two daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat. Zaira’s excellent performance in film fetched her the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She had also faced flak early this year when she met Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. She was forced to apologise for her actions.
Zaira will soon be seen along with her on-screen father Aamir Khan in Secret Superstar, which is slated to release on Diwali this year.
