Dayana Erappa will play the female lead in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. News of Erappa’s casting has been known for a while now. It is only recently that she was revealed as the female lead of the movie.
In a recent interview, Erappa said that the general opinion is that models cannot act.
“I never thought I could be an actor until this movie happened. I am waiting to see the audience reactions. They say models can’t act, but I hope I have done justice to the role. So, let’s see.”

Talking about how he she landed the role, Dayana said: “One day, I got a call from Mani Ratnam’s production house asking me if I’d be interested in acting. Initially, I thought it was a prank call. Later, I tried to locate the person who spoke to me on FB and found that he was working in that production house.”
The film features an ensemble cast of Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jyothika and Aditi Rao Hydari.
