As Avengers: Endgame, the last instalment in Marvel’s superhero franchise, gears up for release on April 26, Joe Russo, one of its directors, has arrived in India to kickstart the promotional campaign of the film. During an event, the director opened up about how Shankar’s 2010 sci-fi film Enthiran (also called Robot) became an inspiration for one of the scenes in the Joss Whedon directed Avengers: Age of Ultron. He said that the movie had s scene similar to the one in Robot where thousands of Robots come together to form a snake. Unfortunately, the scene was edited out in the final copy.

“Interesting story, that I think will be a really good headline tomorrow, is that Robot almost influenced the climactic moment in Avengers: Age of Ultron. So you know, in Robot, where all the robots form a snake? All the Ultrons in Ultron came together to form a large Ultron, but it had to get cut for time,” the director was quoted in a TimesNow report.

Robot is the dubbed version of Endhiran. Directed by Shankar, the movie featured Rajinikanth in dual roles and Aishwarya Rai in the female lead. The movie toyed with the idea of a robot capable of feelings. Rajinikanth played the scientist and his invention – Chitti the robot. Produced by Kalanithi Maran, the movie, during the time of its release, was the costliest Indian film. The movie was appreciated for its visual effects that were done by the American based company Legacy Effects, which has worked on Avengers: The Age of Ultron and other Marvel movies.
