Dilip Kumar Admitted To Mumbai Hospital With Chest Infection

Dilip Kumar has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital due to a minor chest infection. A tweet on his official social media account, managed by Dilip’s close friend, confirmed the news.

The actor is currently recuperating and his health is being monitored.

Saira Banu, Dilip’s wife, told PTI, that the actor was in the hospital for a routine checkup, and will will remain in the hospital for a few days.

“We are here at Lilavati and we come here for a routine check-up regularly. He will be here for a few days, as long as the doctors want to do tests. All kinds of tests will be conducted. There is a team of doctors here, chest physician, neurologist,” she said.

“The tests are being conducted under Dr Nitin Gokhale. We need your wishes so we can go home soon,” she added.

SpotBoyE report says that the actor has been diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. He will be under observation for 72 hours.

Dilip, 95, has spent the last couple of years in and out of hospital. In August 2017, he was admitted for kidney issues. After a week of continuous treatment, the actor was discharged.

In his three decade long career, Dilip Kumar has acted in over 65 films. He is known for his iconic roles in movies like Devdas, Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Kranti and Karma. He was last seen on the silver screen in Qila in the year 1998. Since then, his advanced age and decline in health has prevented him from taking on more roles.

Dilip Kumar was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
