Desingh Periyasamy, director of Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, is set to get married to actor Niranjani Ahathian, who also made her debut in the same 2020 Tamil film.
“The wedding will be held on February 25 in Pondicherry. We have invited just family and friends. But we are planning another celebration in Chennai, for friends from the industry and media. But the date and venue are yet to be fixed,” Desingh told The Times of India.
“I got Niranjani’s photo one day through my cameraman for the film. He had taken her picture from Twitter and sent it to me, saying she would suit Shreya’s part. That’s how I got to know her. And now, we are getting married,” he added calling it a “proper arranged marriage”.
Niranjani is the daughter of filmmaker Ahathian, who won the National Award for the Best Direction and Screenplay for the 1996 film Kadhal Kottai. The film was remade in Kannada as Yaare Neenu Cheluve, and in Hindi as Sirf Tum.
Filmmaker Thiru announced news of the wedding on social media and congratulated the couple. According to The Times of India, Thiru is married to Karthika Ahathian, Ahathian’s eldest daughter and Niranjani’s older sister.
