Disappointment Prevails In Twitter Over Aamir Khan-Emine Erdogan’s Meet In Turkey

Last week, images of actor Aamir Khan at Turkey’s international airport did the rounds with speculations that the actor has resumed filming for Laal Singh Chaddha. The actor is reportedly in the country, after a long hiatus, to commence work on Laal Singh Chadda for a 40-day schedule which is believed to commence soon.

Amidst the preparation for the shoot, the actor met with the Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan at the Huber Mansion in Istanbul. The meeting between the two has gutted the star’s fans and Twitter, in general, owing to the animosity between India and Turkey.

The actor met the lady, who has been a part of important social projects and humanitarian aid activities, to raise awareness about his ‘Paani Foundation’ that deals in drought prevention and watershed management in Maharashtra, India.

Tweeps have pointed out that the actor refused to meet nationalist Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu when he was in Mumbai, but chose to meet the Turkish PM who has made anti-Indian statements and supported Pakistan on the scrapping of Article 370 in Kashmir last year. They also said in their tweets that patriotism prevailed only in his films and not in real life.

The duo had also reportedly discussed the similarities in Indian and Turkish cultures and handicrafts and spoken about the actor’s Christmas 2021 release Laal Singh Chaddha, which the Turkish first lady is excited to watch.

It is noteworthy that Aamir’s wife, Kiran Rao, had lived in Turkey for a short period of time, before moving to India. It is also to be noted that in 2017, the Turkish government had invited Aamir to promote his film Secret Superstar in the country.
