Drunk Driving Case: Actor Jai’s License Suspended For Six Months

Jai, who was arrested and released on bail in a drunk driving case, has now been fined Rs 5,200 as punishment. The Police have also cancelled his license for six months after the actor admitted to driving drunk, reports Indian Express.

A metropolitan magistrate court in Saidapet issued the Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) on Thursday as the actor failed to appear in court for the case.

Jai rammed his car onto the Adyar Flyover on September 21. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was later released on bail. He was booked under Section 185 (driving by a drunken person or by a person under the influence of drugs) of the Motor Vehicles Act and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code.

When he was arrested, an official statement from the police said: “This was not the first time that the actor was caught for drunk driving. In 2014, there was a similar incident after he rammed his car into the wall of Guindy bridge.”
