The first look of Jersey starring Nani was launched yesterday. This is the next sports film after the recently successful Kanaa, a film about a girl who dreams to make it big in cricket. Actor Nani posted the film’s first look on his official social media account.

Jersey was launched earlier this week. Nani plays the role of a cricketer who wishes to join the Indian cricket team. Reportedly, the film is a period drama that is set between 1986 and 1996.
According to insiders, the film follows a late bloomer who plans to leave behind his career to take up cricket. While sports for youngsters seems like an uphill task in itself, Nani’s character has a wife and child, which further complicates his decision to pursue cricket.
Jersey was announced in as early as June and the shoot began in October. About the movie, director Gowtham Tinnanuri had said in an interview, “As a subject, I want this story to reach as many people as possible. With his universal appeal, Nani can take this story far and wide. I also really like him as an actor.”

Nani was last seen in Devdas, with Nagarjuna for the first time. Directed by Sriram Aditya, the movie had received a mixed response from the audience. Krishnarjuna Yudham was his other release of the year. Nani played a double-role for the third time in the film, but it wasn’t received too well.
Nani is currently hosting the second season of the Telugu Big Boss.
In Jersey, Shraddha Srinath plays the female lead. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer. Cinematography is by Sanu John Varghese, he has worked on films like Viswaroopam and Badhaai Ho (2018).
Sathyaraj, Brahmaji and Ronit Kamra play supporting roles in the movie. It is produced by Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments.
