Director Narthan told Silverscreen, “The set work for the next schedule is currently on in Chennai. This is for a temple fight scene, and once the sets are ready we will decide on the dates,” he said.
Simbu, Gautham Karthik and Iyakiya Rajendar, Simbu’s sister, are currently on board. The rest of the cast is being finalised. Cinematography is by Naveen Kumar and production is by KE Gananavel Raja under the Studio Green banner.
The film is believed to be a remake of the Kannada film Mufti, also directed by Narthan, starring Shivrajkumar, Sriimurali, Shanvi Srivastav and Chaya Singh.
Narthan earlier told Silverscreen “We don’t want to call it a remake as we have made many changes. The characters will mostly be the same, but the heroine’s portions are entirely changing and about 40 percent of the first half of the film will be different.”

He also confirmed that like the story of Mufti, one of heroes is a cop, and the other is an underworld don. “These are roles that STR and Gautham Karthik haven’t done before. STR has a mass following and once he came on board, we selected Gautham because he was apt for the role,” he said.
The movie is an action-thriller, and reports have it that Gautham Karthik will be playing the cop. He was last seen with STR in Mani Ratnam directorial Chekka Chevantha Vaanam.
STR is currently awaiting the release of Venkat Prabhu’s Maanaadu, and also has UR Jameel’s Maha and T Rajendar’s Machie in the pipeline. Gautham Karthik has Arun Chandhiran’s Chella Pillai under production.
