Kollywood actor Ganesh Venkatraman will play the role of a Central Bureau Investigation officer in his next film. Titled Inayathalam, the film is directed by debutant filmmakers, Shankar and Suresh, and will explore the world of cyber crime.
The film is inspired by true events related to cyber crime in the country, and will look at how police departments function when it comes to capturing online criminals. Venkatraman, as an investigating officer, will play the lead role along with Malayalam actress Shwetha Menon as the female lead. The directors of the film recently said that the film’s theme will touch upon social media obsession and its downsides.

“The plot is inspired by real-life cyber crime cases, and director Shankar who has an IT background, has done a lot of research. We read a lot about these cyber crime cases in newspapers and on TV, how online crime can range from the tiny to the significant. The film will have a social awareness message on this subject. My character is that of a Special Investigating Officer. I will be working with actors Shwetha Menon and Erode Mahesh as the team that investigates a series of crimes committed by a culprit who is nameless and faceless, and could be in any corner of the world,” Venkatraman revealed recently.
Interestingly, Venkatraman is known to have donned khaki in several of his films, including Kamal Haasan-starrer Unnaipol Oruvan (2009), Thani Oruvan (2015), and his upcoming film Thodari with Dhanush, Keerthy Suresh and Prabhu Solomon.
Inayathalam‘s shooting will take place mostly in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The cast of the film includes Erode Mahesh and veteran actor Delhi Ganesh and actress Sukanya. The directors of the film are former IT professionals who took up filmmaking as their passion.
