Telugu actor Gopichand, who is awaiting the release of director Sampath Nandi’s sports action film Seetimaarr, is set to join hands with filmmaker Sriwass Oleti once again, the makers of the upcoming film announced on social media on Wednesday.
The upcoming film will mark the third collaboration of the duo after the filmmaker’s debut directorial Lakshyam (2007) and the 2014 film Loukyam. Interestingly, the collaborations have all happened seven years apart.
The new film, tentatively called Gopichand 30, is produced by TG Viswa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory with Vivek Kuchibhotla serving as the co-producer. It is the first collaboration of the banner with the filmmaker-actor duo.
Speaking to Silverscreen India about the inception of the project, Sriwass said, “Gopichand and I have had a long journey in cinema and we have collaborated twice before. For some time now, we had been searching for a good script for our reunion. About two months back, we locked the script and then developed it.”
The film’s story is written by Bhupathi Raja. The rest of the cast and technical crew members are yet to be announced.
The director added that the film will be a “family entertainer with hilarious elements and family emotions” which will be made on a big scale. “The film is set in modern day Kolkata, but I cannot reveal more. The casting is still on and you can expect some known faces to come on board. There will also be one more male lead in the film, as well as two female leads.”
“Filming will commence after Gopichand completes his 29th film, Pakka Commercial, with filmmaker Maruthi. The shooting of that film is half complete. I also need about two months for the pre-production work of my film. We are planning to start shooting from October first week in Hyderabad,” said Sriwass
