Earlier this week, music composer Himesh Reshammiya and his wife of 22 years, Komal, filed for divorce at a Bandra family court. While Himesh has said that it was an “amicable decision”, several reports in the media continue to suggest that Himesh’s alleged extra-marital affair with TV Actress Sonia Kapoor led to the split. Both Komal and Himesh stated that they remain like family for each other, and love Sonam “like a family member”.
Speaking to Mid-Day, Himesh said that his family respected their decision, and that Komal and he would remain a part of each other’s family. He said, “Sometimes in life, mutual respect becomes the most important and giving due respect to our relationship, Komal and I have amicably decided to part ways… There is no problem whatsoever with this decision among us and our family as every member respects it. Yet, Komal is and will always remain a part of our family and I will always be a part of her family.”

Both Himesh and Komal denied that an affair had caused the split. Himesh said, “No one should be dragged into this matter; no one is responsible for it. Our marriage failed because of compatibility issues. Sonia is not to be blamed for this; we love her like a family member.”
Himesh and Komal have a son, Swayam.
