Hollywood’s best-known couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have ended their 12-year-long relationship – two as a married couple. According to a BBC report, Jolie has filed for divorce. The report quoted the actress’ lawyer, Robert Offer, as saying that the “decision was made for the health of the family”.
“She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” Offer added in the statement.
Angelina and Brad Pitt have been together since 2005, and got married in August 2014. They got together after meeting on the sets of Mr & Mrs Smith. It was the second marriage for Pitt, who was previously married to FRIENDS star Jennifer Anniston. Jolie was married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller earlier. The duo has six children together – Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, who are adopted, and biological children Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie is seeking physical custody of the children and asking the court to grant Pitt the right to visit them. According to a CNN report, Jolie has also asked the court to let her keep “miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects” as well as any earnings from after the date of their separation and other separate assets to be determined later.
Last year, the couple had acted together in By The Sea, the romantic drama written and directed by Jolie herself.
