Huma Qureshi will play the female lead in Rajinikanth’s next. According to reports, the actress was roped in for the film after Vidya Balan walked out.
A source close to the project told Silverscreen, “The film goes on the floors on 28 May. Huma has been finalised as the female lead. Her performances in Dedh Ishqiya and the recent Jolly LLB 2 really impressed the team.”

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film is Rajini’s 161st as actor and is reportedly set in Mumbai. Recently, the makers were forced to shoot down rumours that the film is based on Mumbai don Haji Mastan’s life, after his adopted son Sundar Shekhar Mishra sent Rajinikanth a notice asking for clarification.
Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music, while Dhanush has produced the project through his Wunderbar Studios. The film is slated to release in 2018.
