I Don’t Believe in the ‘Multi-Starrer’ Concept: Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan, in an interview to DNA, said he didn’t believe in ‘multi-starrer/sole hero’ concepts in films. Junior Bachchan’s last film, Happy New Year, which was directed by Farah Khan, had Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Jackie Shroff in it.

Bachchan explained that he considered every actor, who is in front of the camera with him, as a co-star. Incidentally, his blockbusters – the Dhoom series films, Paa and Dostaana – were all multi-starrers.

The size of the role really shouldn’t matter, he added. “When other actors have as much at stake as you have and they are putting in as much an effort as you are, they should get as much (sic) of the credit.”

Abhishek also said that he wanted to do ‘uncomfortable’ and challenging roles. The character he played in Happy New Year, Nandu Bhinde, was one of the toughest roles ever, he said. Abhishek was much-appreciated for his role in the film.
