Interim Stay On Nadigar Sangam Election

The Madras High Court has issued an interim stay on the Nadigar Sangam elections, which were earlier scheduled for July 15. The Court has also asked the current President, R Sarathkumar, to file a reply petition in two weeks. Further, the Court has pushed the judgement on the case filed by actors Vishal, Poochi Murugan and others to Friday. The case concerns the postponement of the election date and venue, and the judgement was originally expected yesterday.

The case has arisen due to a difference of opinion between, on the one hand, actors Vishal, Karthi, Nasser, Karunas and Ponvannan, and, on the other, President R Sarathkumar and Secretary Radha Ravi. The main issues revolve around the Nadigar Sangam building, and the election proceedings. Subsequently, Poochi Murugan had also filed a petition seeking the Court’s intervention in the election proceedings.

Radha Ravi had also filed a reply petition saying that the election date had been finalized only after a discussion with the members of the Sangam, and had stated that there was no reason to postpone the election.

Nasser and R Sarathkumar are contesting for the post of President, while Vishal and Radha Ravi will be battling it out for the Secretary’s post.
