Dhadak star Janhvi Kapoor will reportedly be reprising Anna Ben‘s role in the Bollywood remake of 2019 Malayalam hit Helen. The remake rights of the film have been bought by her father, producer Boney Kapoor and will be bankrolled by him along with Zee Studios.
Though the official announcement is yet to be made, Vineeth Sreenivasan, who produced the original Malayalam one under his Habit of Life banner shared an exclusive article regarding the same by gossip portal Pinkvilla on his Facebook account.
The report also mentioned that the pre-production work of the untitled film is currently on and that the team plans to go on floors sometime in the first quarter of 2021.
Helen is a survival drama that starred Anna Ben and Lal in the lead roles. Helmed by debutant Mathukutty Xavier, the film was bankrolled by Vineeth Sreenivasan along with Noble Babu Thomas’ Big Bang Entertainments. It dealt with a young girl Helen who unexpectedly gets trapped inside the cold storage of the restaurant she works at.
The film also starred Noble Babu Thomas, Aju Varghese, Rony David, and Binu Pappu in important roles. On the technical front, Anend C Chandran has handled the camera, Shaan Rahman on music, Shameer Muhammed on edit, and M Bawa on art. Irshad Cherukunnu has designed costumes with Ranjith Ambady on makeup. Alfred Kurian Joseph, Noble Thomas, and Mathukutty Xavier have penned the story.
The film was immensely appreciated by critics and audiences and fared well at the box office.

Helen is also being remade in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara fame director Gokul will be helming the Tamil remake starring father-daughter duo Arun Pandian and Keerthi Pandian in the lead roles, while popular ad filmmakers Sabu Aloysius and M Arun Kumar will be helming the Kannada version starring Bigg Boss fame Lasya Nagaraj in the lead, and debutant Hanuman Chowdary will be helming the Telugu version starring Anupama Parameswaran in the lead.

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is awaiting the release of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl on Netflix. The action drama helmed by debutant Sharan Sharma is based on Lucknow-based Gunjan Saxena, the first woman Indian Air Force Officer to enter a war zone. It will stream on the platform from August 12th.
