The team released a press statement earlier today saying Jayam Ravi has nine different roles in the comedy-entertainer. Speaking to Silverscreen, the director said, “He will be seen in a 90s get-up, as a cave man, a king and more roles. I cannot reveal anything about the story at this point, but it looks at how developments in technology make us reject certain things and accept others. It has a message that is not preachy, but is relevant and told in a fun way.”
The makers have kept Kajal Aggarwal’s character under wraps. “We haven’t seen Jayam Ravi and Kajal Aggarwal on screen before. We don’t want to reveal anything about her role now, but it will be a serious one. Samyuktha is also the heroine of the film. She is a very expressive actor. Her role in the Kannada film Kirik Party gained her a lot of popularity. We wanted to introduce her to the Tamil audience, and we’re confident that her performance will be memorable.”
The other supporting actors in the film have roles that are significant to the plot, says Pradeep. “Yogi Babu performs as a character artiste. You can’t say he’s a comedian in the film, he has many emotional scenes too.” KS Ravikumar also features in an important role, and RJ Anandhi, who is popular for her YouTube videos, makes her acting debut with the film.
The title, posters and promotions promise an entertainer. The director says, “You could say this is a family comedy drama, a film like Vasool Raja MBBS that makes you laugh and cry. After many years, you will also get to see the Jayam Ravi who was loved much in Santhosh Subramaniam.”
Shooting for the film is almost over, and a teaser can be expected to release soon. Music is by Hip Hop Tamizha, cinematography by Richard M Nathan, and editing by Praveen KL. The film is produced by Ishari Ganesh of Vels International.
