Jayasurya has announced his new project with director Prajesh Sen, titled Vellam. The announcement came on the first anniversary of the director-actor’s previous film Captain.
Jayasurya shared the news on social media, and wrote, “Captain, one of the favourite characters I have portrayed in my journey. I cannot express the exact feelings I went through but it was truly humbling. I didn’t see him, but I felt his presence. Thanks to that soul and your incredible support, here I am sharing with all of you another little bit of happiness: Prajesh and I will be joining hands again for our new movie,” said CE
The first look poster has the two halves of the actor’s face at the two ends, pitted as mirror images, yet with subtle differences. The title of the movie which translates to ‘water’, also comes with the tagline, ‘The Essential Drink.’

The director-actor’s previous collaboration Captain was a biopic based on the life of the footballer V.P. Sathyan. Sathyan who captained the India national football team from 1991 to 1995, committed suicide when he was 41 years, in July 2006. The movie went on to garner appreciation and became a hit at the box office.
Vellam is produced by Friendly Productions. The details regarding the remaining cast and crew are yet to be revealed.

Jayasurya was last seen in Ranjith Sankar’s Pretham 2 – the sequel to his 2016 movie. He also worked on Njan Marykutti with the same director last year. The actor played the role of a transwoman in the movie.
His upcoming projects include Turbo Peter. The movie is directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas with whom Jayasurya has worked on Aadu and Aadu 2. Speaking about his new movie, Midhun Manuel Thomas said to ToI, “Jayasurya is playing the role of Turbo Peter. The film is an episode from Peter’s life. However, I can’t say more about him at the moment as we are yet to finalise many aspects.”
