Joss Whedon Takes Over ‘Justice League’ Direction; Zack Snyder Steps Away

Snyder’s daughter, Autumn Snyder, committed suicide in March. She was 20 years old. He, along with his wife Deborah, who is also a producer on the film, have decided to take a break from the film in order to deal with the sudden tragedy.

Whedon will now work on the remainder of the film, which is currently in post-production.

“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it,” Snyder told Collider. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming. And in the last two months I’ve come to the realization …I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

Filming on Justice League has already finished, with Snyder initially involved in post-production work to meet the film’s 17 November release date. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
