Kaali Venkat will make the transition from comedian to hero next year. The Mundasupatti actor has been signed on as the lead in a ‘village-based’ film. According to Venkat, the film will begin sometime in early 2015 and will be directed by a debutant. The actor did not furnish more details, as ‘things were still in the discussion stage’. “I was not very keen on becoming a hero. I was content with playing great character roles, but since the script appealed to me on a personal level, I have taken up this project,” he said.
Balasaravanan, who debuted with Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, will play his younger brother in the film, and Kaali insisted that both roles are ‘equally important’. “Unlike other films, the script has been written in such a way that equal prominence is given to both the characters. Since both of us have comedy background, it’s going to be a riot.”
