According to a  report in The Hindu, the statement was filed in response to a writ filed by the actor’s brother, KR Ramakrishnan which sought a CBI probe into the case.

The committee also dismissed the possibility of Mani consuming poisonous insecticide. According to the post-mortem report, Mani was battling severe cirrhosis of liver, jaundice, kidney dysfunction, and severe type 11 diabetics mellitus.

It is yet unclear whether a combination of these health conditions led to his death, as a final opinions from the doctors is still pending.

The government also said that though it has decided to transfer the case to the CBI, the organisation is yet to respond.
