Kalaipuli S Thanu is looking forward to the Producer’s Council elections that will be held later this year. Thanu told Silverscreen, “As President, I am looking forward to a fair election process. I urge all the producers competing in the elections to conduct themselves in a manner that this office demands.”
Thanu also expressed his interest in seeing a younger, more dynamic team in charge. “It is time for fresh blood. But that doesn’t mean that people unworthy, undeserving of this position will be allowed inside. There have been some people who have taken the dignity of this position very lightly. They’ve been given the suitable punishment. I ask people to take this seriously, and not continue this sort of behaviour anymore.”

He also thanked his team for their continued support throughout his tenure. Thanu took over from Keyaar in 2014, after the latter was forced to resign from his position due to a ‘no-confidence’ motion.
“I took charge of TFPC at a time when there was no confidence in the council. A lot of things were disregarded, and producers were being taken for a ride by artists. Big productions were also trying to step into the industry. Without the support of my team, I could not have seen through my tenure. They had a lot of faith in me, and placed their trust in me.”
Thanu is currently producing Dhanush’s Velaiyilla Pattathari 2.
