Kamal Haasan will play Suyambulingam in Papanasam. A scene was shot recently in the Nanguneri mutt featuring the actor, and some pictures have even found their way online. These images of the famously atheist actor in close quarters with a priest raised some eyebrows, but Drishyam remake’s screenplay writer, Jeyamohan has come out in defense of the star. “As you’re all aware, not a lot of temples allow films to be shot inside their premises. But the Nanguneri mutt officials gave us permission to shoot some scenes outside the temple and as a mark of respect, Kamal Haasan met the priest. Do not read too much into it. I know better, because I was there and saw it all happen.”
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film has Kamal Haasan and Gauthami Tadimella in the lead alongside Niveda Thomas and Baby Esther. Ghibran has been roped in to compose music while Sripriya produces the project.
