Kangana Ranaut, who will soon be seen in Hansal Mehta’s Simran, will also be credited as a writer in the film. The actress has scripted the film along with the director, turning the script from a crime thriller to a “slice of life” comedy, reports Mumbai Mirror.
The actress had reportedly been creative with her dialogues in Vikas Bahl’s Queen, even being credited for her additional dialogues.
“Kangana is an incredible talent and I’m happy that she has helped make Simran a fun family film. I’ve been very impressed with her since Queen and even more so because she collaborated on the script of that lovely film. I’m thankful that after Queen, we have a similar collaboration in our film,” Mehta told Mirror.
Ranaut, too, has expressed her excitement towards venturing into script-writing. “When Hansal (Mehta, director) came to me with the script of Simran, I was intrigued. It was essentially a dark, gritty crime thriller. Together we sat down and tweaked the script to make it a slice-of-life comedy. It is gracious of them (Hansal and Co.) to credit me as a writer for the film,” she told Mid-Day.

She also added that she might write a book some day. “My bucket list extends beyond films. I want to act and direct like [Charlie] Chaplin. It’s an intrinsic personality trait. In the near future, you will also see me write a book. I will be found growing apples in an organic farm someday. I have a lot of interests, which I need to fulfill in this lifetime. There’s a constant fear that one day I will die and there will be way too many things I won’t be able to accomplish. I have it all calculated,” she said.
Simran stars Ranaut, Sohum Shah, Esha Tewari and is written by Apurva Asrani of Shahid fame.
