Karan Johar May Not Distribute Baahubali 2 In Hindi

Karan Johar, who distributed Baahubali in Hindi last year is apparently not too keen on distributing the sequel, which is slated for a release on 28 April, 2017. Due to the massive success of the first part of the film, the producers have reportedly hiked the price of the film by double. Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying, “The producers are hell bent on milking the Baahubali craze, especially since Rajamouli has declared he won’t be stretching the plot for a third film.”

Karan Johar is apparently not pleased with the price he is being asked to pay for the sequel. “Karan may not patronise Baahubali 2 at all. It will depend on how  Ae  Dil  Hai  Mushkil fares at the box office. At the moment he can’t afford what the producers want for the movie,” said the source. Although, when announcing the release date of the film in August, Karan Johar added that he will be associated with releasing the film in Hindi.

The Baahubali team is embarking on a massive marketing spree with merchandise such as comic books, video games, and Virtual Reality content. There were rumours that the film’s lead Prabhas might be cast in Bollywood films like Dhoom 4, but the actor himself denied it saying that he has not been approached for any Hindi film and that his next film will be a Telugu-Tamil bilingual.
