Kareena Kapoor Khan, the Hindi actor who was last seen in Angrezi Medium, is all set to turn producer for filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s next directorial. She made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday.
The film will be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms.
A thriller based on a real-life incident, the film will be shot in London and will also feature Kapoor Khan. This marks the first collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker.
“Our aim with this film is to create a fresh, gripping and moody thriller with Kareena playing a character that I am hoping will do justice to her immense talent as an actor,” Mehta said in a statement.
“I am a huge fan of Hansal’s films and to be working with him for the first time will be special. There are a lot of firsts on this film and I cannot wait to begin this journey,” added Kapoor Khan.
Ekta Kapoor, who last worked with Kapoor Khan on Veere Di Wedding (2018), described the upcoming film as an “intriguing and shocking” thriller.
According to a report in mid-day, the film will go on floors soon. Details about the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced.

Mehta, director of critically-acclaimed films such as Aligarh (2016) and Omerta (2017), shot to fame with the success of his web series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The filmmaker recently announced two other upcoming films. One will be Captain India with Kartik Aaryan, while the other is titled Faraaz and stars newcomers Zahaan Kapoor and Aditya Rawal.
Kapoor Khan recently co-authored the book Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible, which led to a police complaint filed being against her over the title. The actor will next be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha alongside Aamir Khan. The film, a Hindi remake of Forrest Gump, is slated for a Christmas release this year. She is also part of Karan Johar’s period drama Takht, which is yet to go on floors.
