She will be seen as the wife of the actor in the biopic of Srilankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan which is rumoured to be titled 800. While Vijay plays Muttiah, Rajisha will play Madhimalar Ramamurthy.
Madhimalar is the daughter of late Dr. S Ramamurthy, the founder of Malar Hospitals, and his wife Dr. Nithya Ramamurthy. Hailing from Chennai, she married Muttiah in 2005.
The film will be helmed by MS Sripathy and jointly bankrolled by Rana Daggubati‘s Suresh Productions and Dar Films. Composer Sam CS has been roped in to compose music for the film. Rumour has it that Yogi Babu will also play an important role, that of Russell Arnold, in the film. Russell and Muttiah were teammates for quite a while and shared a great rapport on and off the field. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced.

The filming of 800 will reportedly begin once the lockdown is lifted and Vijay Sethupathi wraps up the other projects he is shooting for. He will also reportedly undergo training to get into shape and perfect the mannerisms of the off-spinner. The title 800 is attributed to the fact that Muralitharan is the first and only bowler so far to have 800 Test wickets.
Meanwhile, Rajisha’s Karnan helmed by Mari Selvaraj is set in Tirunelveli and has completed 90% of the shoot before the nationwide lockdown was announced. The makers plan to complete the film post-lockdown and release it in theatres next year.
