Actor Karthi’s Madras, scheduled to release on July 25, has now been postponed to August 29 due to a delay in obtaining a censor certificate. The original release date – July 25 – coincides with the Ramzan weekend, and would have pitted Madras against two long overdue releases – Jai’s Thirumanam Ennum Nikkaah and Siddharth’s Jigarthanda. The following weekend, August 1, will see 3 major releases, Nambiar, Sarabham and Salim. This kicks off a busy August, which is likely to see Suriya’s Anjaaan and director Vasanthabalan’s Kaaviya Thalaivan. STR’s Vaalu could be an August release as well.
Madras stars Karthi Sivakumar and Catherine Tresa in lead roles and is directed by P Ranjith. The rest of the cast features several new faces, including “Poster” Nandhakumar who plays the villain and Kalaiarasan and Mime Gopi, who play supporting roles. The soundtrack by Santhosh Narayanan , which includes a song by Gaana Bala, has been very well received.
