Kathir’s Next Is A Comedy-Entertainer Titled ‘Sarbath’

Sarbath Movie Stills Starring Kathir, Ragasiya

Actor Kathir is working with Telugu actress Rahasiya, and Soori for a comedy-entertainer titled Sarbath. The film is directed by Prabhakaran, a former associate of Balaji Sakthivel.

The film was launched yesterday and a first-look poster was also released. Kathir and Soori are seen on a bike in a park in the poster. It is reportedly set in a rural area.

Rahisya is a newcomer in Tollywood and will star opposite Kathir. Soori is Kathir’s friend in Sarbath, and will also be central to the plot. His role is similar to the ones in films like Oru Oorla Rendu Raja, starring Vemal, and Gemini Ganeshanum Suruli Raajanum starring Atharvaa.

A press release said that the film is a fun-filled entertainer set in Dindugal. Siddharth Vipin, Marimuthu, Vivek Prasanna and others have important roles.

Director Prabhakaran told DC, “Kathir plays an IT professional who goes to the city for employment. Vivek Prasanna is his older brother. When Kathir comes home to attend his brother’s wedding, he encounters some issues, and how he resolves them forms the rest of the film.”

“It is narrated in a highly humorous way, and the film’s highlight is its screenplay,” the director added.

Prabhakaran is a native of Dindugal and the film is inspired by the events in his life. A few scenes have also been filmed in Chennai, and the shooting is almost complete.

7 Screen Studio is bankrolling the film. Music is by Super Singer contestant Ajesh, cinematography by Prabhakaran, and editing by Prasanna GK.

Kathir is currently also busy with Thalapathy 63, and recently signed up for the sports film Jada, directed by newcomer Kumaran. He reportedly plays a footballer in both the films.

He made his debut with Madha Yaanai Koottam in 2013, and was noticed as Vijay Setupathi’s brother in Vikram Vedha, directed by Pushkar and Gayathri. The film went on to become a hit, but it was his performance in last year’s Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Pa Ranjith, that was most appreciated. This year, he also acted in Sigai and Sathru.
