Ayngaran International”s Karunamoorthy has denied allegations that one of the producers of AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi had connections to Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa. The movie, starring Vijay and Samantha has been in trouble with protestors claiming that links between producer Subaskaran Allirajah’s (of Lyca Communcations) and Rajapaksa had “hurt Tamil sentiments”.
In a statement released to the press, Karunamoorthy said, “Subaskaran and I left Sri Lanka nearly three decades ago and have been involved in Tamil film production for the past 27 years. Lyca is a multinational company with operations in India and Sri Lanka, besides running a foundation in aid of Tamil victims of civil war in Sri Lanka. Lyca is funding us for Kaththi and I vouch that there are no links between Subaskaran and Rajapaksa. All those rumours are baseless.”
