Journalist-turned-director Era Saravanan’s Kathukutti’s release hit a roadblock today, as a city court imposed an interim stay on the movie’s release for two weeks, owing to financial problems. The movie’s publicist confirmed the news, and added that the financial problems were yet to be sorted out.
Sathyam Cinemas, on Thursday morning, removed Kathukutti from the screens and replaced it with Chimbudeven’s Puli. Kathukutti is a comedy entertainer, set in the backdrop of Tanjore. Apparently, the film focuses on a proposed methane factory in the area.
Starring Narain, Srushti Dange and Soori, Kathukutti was recently appreciated by politician Vaiko and legendary director Bharathiraja. The cast of Kathukutti also includes Jayaraj (director Bharathi Raja’s brother) as Narain’s father, Gnanavel, Raja, Kadhal Saravanan, Sitthan Mohan, Thulasi, Maaran, Devipriya, Arpudhan Vijay and Kasali.
