The upcoming untitled Tamil film starring actors Kavin and Aparna Das that was recently announced will be a family drama about the ‘2K’ generation, says its director, debutant Ganesh K Babu.
The film backed by S Ambeth Kumar of Olympia Movies went on floors in the first week of March.
Ganesh, who has previously worked as an associate to filmmaker Rajesh M Selva, says, “This is a contemporary family drama, revolving around the ‘2K’ generation, documenting their lifestyle, attitudes, and behaviours in certain situations. The way they handle a specific life situation differs from previous generations. The approach of this new generation towards relationships and emotions is what the film will talk about.”
The debutant has also written the screenplay and dialogues. He mentions that he got the idea for it about seven years ago. “I only came up the core idea then. I’ve been modifying it since to arrive at the final script. The film has references to people I have personally seen and it will be relatable to the audiences,” he says, adding that he spent about two months writing only the dialogues.
Ganesh says that Kavin, who is his friend from college, was his primary choice for the lead role. He adds that the knowledge the actor had gained about scripts while assisting filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar came in handy for this project. “Kavin referred me to Aparna. She plays Kavin’s love interest in the film. Both of them essay youngsters of the new generation,” the director says.
