Other films that will be re-releasing include Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (starring Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan); late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan’s 2018 release Kedarnath; Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar); Taapsee Pannu‘s Thappad; thriller Malang (featuring Disha Patani, Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor); and the 2019 film War (starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff).

As reported by Quint, apart from the aforementioned six movies, Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba will also be re-released by INOX and Chhichhore (starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajput) by Carnival Cinemas.

As cinemas ready to reopen their doors from this week onwards, the list of #Hindi films scheduled for re-release this week is OFFICIALLY announced… Medium star#TanhajiMedium star#ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhanMedium star#MalangMedium star#KedarnathMedium star#Thappad More films will be scheduled in coming days,” film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Some big-ticket films that could not make it to the big screen due to the lockdown were premiered on OTT platforms. Speculations were rife that these films will be re-released in theatres after the unlock. Dil Bechara, Shakuntala Devi, Sadak 2, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Khuda Haafiz and Gulabo Sitabo were being discussed to have a re-release in cinema halls.

However, to fans’ disappointment, Adarsh tweeted: “Important development… There was talk that films premiered on OTT platforms might release in cinemas… But leading multiplex chains (PVR, Inox, Carnival, Cinepolis ) decide not to screen these films.”

The Centre has come up with a set of new guidelines for Unlock 5, which includes reopening of cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes from October 15.  The SOP issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will permit theatres to reopen with up to 50% of their seating capacity and one seat-distance.
