Actor and politician Khushbu Sundar will contest the post of President in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Film Producer Council (TFPC) elections. She has stated that the decision was her own and not made at the behest of Nadigar Sangam general secretary Vishal. The current President is Kalaipuli S Thanu. Elections have been scheduled for 5 February.
Reports that Vishal was behind her surfaced because Khusboo made the announcement right after a tweet from Kathi Sandai star Vishal, who said that he and his team would be rooting for Khushbu in the upcoming elections.

Given Vishal’s strong criticism of the Council in a recent magazine interview, there was much speculation about Vishal’s intentions. Vishal had been suspended for publicly criticising the Council.
Meanwhile, Khusboo told the Times of India that the decision to contest was hers alone and not Vishal’s. She said, “I don’t care what others have to say. I think we are here to do a good job and we are here to set a few things straight. And that’s what I am going to focus on. The way people talk, I think they are trying to make me a scapegoat for Vishal. But this is what I have to say to all the naysayers…I am a well-educated woman who has a mind of her own. So, it is not Vishal who made me contest this election; it is I who decided to do so. I am an individual who has her head in the right place.”
