Knives Out 2: Sequel to Murder Mystery Film ‘Knives Out’ to Stream on Netflix in Late 2022

Knives Out 2, the upcoming English murder mystery film, will stream on Netflix in the last quarter of 2022, as per a report by Variety.

It is also expected to be premiered at film festivals, before making its debut on the streaming platform as well as in theatres.

The film is a sequel to the 2019 film Knives Out directed by Rian Johnson. It will feature an ensemble cast, like its predecessor, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc. The new cast includes actors Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline.

However, the details about the plot and other aspects of the film are yet to be revealed.

Director Rian Johnson has also retained a few crew members from the original film. Cinematographer Steve Yedlin and editor Bob Ducsay, who worked on the first film have been roped in to work on the sequel as well.

Johnson, who penned the upcoming movie’s script, has produced it along with Ram Bergman, under the production banner T-Street.

Knives Out, which was released in 2019 by Lionsgate, looks into the death of a wealthy patriarch and his dysfunctional family, investigated by a detective. It starred Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana De Armas, and Toni Collette, in pivotal roles. It earned $311 million in revenue against its $40 million budget. Johnson earned an Academy Award and BAFTA nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category, for his work in Knives Out.

The film’s critical and commercial success also led Netflix to acquire the rights for Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 for $450 million.

Director Rian Johnson began shooting for Knives Out 2 in June 2021 in Greece and wrapped up production in September.

Netflix is yet to announce the release date of the upcoming murder mystery film.
