Kriti Kharbanda and Kalyani Priyadarshan will star in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming movie Vaan. Directed by Ra. Karthik, the movie went on floors today.

The director spoke about the reason for casting the two actresses, and said in a ToI report, “I wanted someone who had the energy of a Nazriya or Genelia for this particular role and felt Kalyani had that vibe. That she is also a fresh face is an added advantage.” Daughter of director Priyadarshan, Kalyani made her debut in the 2017 Telugu film Hello.
About casting Kriti Kharbanda, the director said it her television commercials and her roles in Hindi films that lead to her signing for his film. Kharbanda made her Tamil debut with the 2017 G.V.Prakash starrer Bruce Lee. She featured in Veerey Ki Wedding and Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se this year. She is also part of the Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 4 that is scheduled for release next year.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan, who was last seen in 2017’s Solo, has another Tamil film – Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal in the making. A romantic comedy, the movie will have the actor paired opposite Pelli Choopulu fame Ritu Varma. Having made his Hindi debut this year with Karwaan, the actor also has The Zoya Factor in the making. Based on the novel of the same name by Anuja Chauhan, the movie features Sonam Kapoor in the lead role.
Vaan was announced by the actor on Twitter earlier this year.

Produced by J Selvakumar under the banner of Kenanya films, the movie is an on-road film from Chennai to Kolkata. The music for the film is composed by Dheena Dayalan. George C Williams cranks the camera while Sreekar Prasad has been roped in as the editor.
The shooting for is scheduled to start mid-December.
