Film financier Bothra and his two sons, Gagan and Sandeep, have been accused of extortion by producer Sathishkumar, following which the Central Crime Branch of the Chennai police have taken the financier into judicial custody.

Maalai Malar reports that Bothra and his sons were already in police custody following complaints of illegal occupation of private property and extortion filed by hotel owner Senthil Ganapathi. In addition, producer Sathiskumar of JSK Films, who has produced award winning films such as Thanga Meengal, Kuttram Kadithal, and others, also filed a complaint against the moneylender.
According to Sathishkumar, Bothra and his sons were demanding that Sathishkumar hand over his houses, worth Rs. 40 crores, as payment for a loan amounting to Rs. 15 lakhs.
Following the complaint, the Central Crime Branch produced the financier, who was already lodged in Puzhal prison, in front of the court, which ordered that he be taken into judicial custody. The police will now investigate the fresh charges filed against Bothra.
