Actress Kutty Padmini has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner against four persons in connection with her business venture Kreeda Sports Foundation. Coach Santhosh Gopi and Shanmugam Kumar, who were employed by her, along with Santhosh Gopi’s mother Amudha, and his wife Saveetha Santhosh, have been accused of cheating the actress of Rs 92 lakhs.
In her complaint, Kutty Padmini, who is the managing director of the foundation, said that she spent a total of Rs 72 lakhs on the advice of Santhosh Gopi, who came on board as one of the directors in 2016. “He used to tell me that there is no sufficient income from the cricketing sports activities and whatever amount is being collected is hardly sufficient to meet other expenses,” she said.
This was in contrary to the collection of lakhs of rupees from her investments, she said. “Santhosh Gopi deliberately concealed the income from the sports activities and thereby caused wrongful loss to me and he had been gaining wrongfully for himself.” She further said that when she thought of closing down the company, Santhosh assured her that their cricketing activities were doing well. She later found out that he was diverting the students in her academy to a private coaching centre he started.

Shanmugam was also allegedly involved in this, and was liable to be prosecuted. Her complaint says their activities were illegal and amounted to criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating. She said the renovation of the centre, the rental balance and dues would cost her an additional Rs 20 lakhs, so the losses she suffered would amount to Rs 92 lakhs totally.
The actor’s advocate Raju told Silverscreen that they have submitted proof for fund misappropriation, and are awaiting further action from the Commissioner. As of now the centre is not functioning.
Kutty Padmini has acted in several south Indian movies with prominent actors since 1959, and is also the executive member in Nadigar Sangam, and part of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu.
