For the past couple of days, the film industry has been abuzz with news about an FIR being filed against Latha Rajinikanth. The FIR, filed by Ad Bureau Adverstising, alleges that a sum of Rs 14.9 crores had been lent to the producer of Kochadaiiyaan, for which Latha Rajinikanth stood as guarantor, and the loan has not been repaid.
Kochadaiiyaan was directed by Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya R Ashwin and featured Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. It was released in May 2014.
Now, Latha Rajinikanth has sent out a statement refuting the claims, saying that they are false accusations with the intention of using defamation as a tool to extort money and make wrongful gains. She states that she has not stood as guarantor for any loans as being alleged. She also accuses the owners of Ad Bureau Ltd of threatening and doing character assassination of herself and her family.
