The teaser gives us glimpses of Mohanlal’s eyes, the vintage Ambassador from the film’s posters, and the voice of a priest who calls Mohanlal by the name Stephen. Through the teaser, little has been revealed.

But we learn details about Mohanlal’s character Stephen Nedunpally. For instance, when the priest asks Stephen to confess his sins, he responds with sarcasm. “I can confess sins that have already been committed, but not the ones that I’m about to,” he says. In another shot, a black car enters with a ‘666’ number plate – symbols normally associated with the Satan, or Lucifer in this case.

The teaser also confirms speculations that the movie is a political thriller. We see the camera follow Mohanlal as he walks out of a hallway, lined by police officers on either side. It appears to be a court or police station. In the shot before this, where the black car makes its entry, people clad in white, the attire of politicians, stand in the background. So, the teaser largely feeds us what we already know.

Written by Murali Gopy, son of yesteryear National Award-winning actor Gopi, the movie had been making news since it was announced. “The hype surrounding the movie is because of the fact that a leading actor is directing another,” said Mohanlal in an interview. Lucifer marks the directorial debut of the actor-playback singer Prithviraj.

Starring Nandhu, Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith Sukumaran, Lucifer has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvaad Cinemas. Sujitha Vaasudev is the cinematographer, and Deepak Dev is the music composer for the movie.
