The Tamil theatrical rights of AR Murugadoss’ Spyder have been acquired by Lyca Productions for a whopping Rs 25 crores. Raju Mahalingam, CEO of Lyca Productions, took to Twitter to share the news:

The teaser of AR Murugadoss’ science-fiction film released last month, amid much fanfare, clocking in nearly 14 million views thus far. The teaser shows Mahesh Babu playing an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer along with his six-legged friend-cum-gadget.
National Award winner Santhosh Sivan has handled the cinematography, while the music has been composed by Harris Jayaraj, and stunts choreographed by this year’s National Award winner Peter Hein.

In the film, Mahesh Babu’s character will be fighting bio-terrorism. Apart from him, the cast also includes Rakul Preet, SJ Suriyah, Bharat, Priyadarshini Pulikonda, and RJ Balaji. The espionage thriller marks Mahesh’s Tamil debut as well. It is slated to release in September this year.
Apart from Spyder, Lyca Productions will also bankroll the Kamal Haasan film Sabhash Naidu, Dhanush’s Vada Chennai, Sai Pallavi’s Karu, and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Ippadai Vellam.
