R Madhavan has fallen in love with spacesuits, and has called them his new toys.
Mid-Day reports that Madhavan, who co-stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the film Chanda Mama Door Ke, is at the NASA’s US Space and Rocket Centre in Alabama, to train for the film.
Talking about his experience, Madhavan said, “I felt like a kid in Disneyland. Over the first few days, I was putting on different space suits and learning all about their functionality. I was shocked when I heard how much a space suit costs! They are my new toys.”

With Madhavan, is John Palmer, the film’s special effects director. Madhavan said, “John helped me understand the technical aspects of each suit. Since he has worked on a bunch of Hollywood films — Geostorm, Apollo 18, and The Astronaut Farmer — he gives me a great reference point to work on. Be it taking me through the process of getting into the suits or explaining safety measures, or helping me train under water, John has done it all.”
Silverscreen earlier reported that Sushant Singh Rajput also trained for the film at NASA, also under John Palmer’s supervision.
