Director Madhur Bhandarkar has spoken up about the recent controversies surrounding his upcoming period drama, Indu Sarkar. The National- Award winning film-maker tweeted:
Since 42 yrs lot has been stated & published about 1975 #Emergency.But only when a film is made,one is threatened with legal consequences.

The film has been slammed by the Indian National Congress party, as well as a woman who claims to be the daughter of the late Sanjay Gandhi.
Earlier this week, Priya Paul Singh has sent a four-page legal notice stating that her “father” played by Neil Nitin Mukesh in the movie are shown in roles “without accurate or sufficient historical data” and may be shown in “poor light”.
The movie has Kirti Kulhari and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.
