The Madras High Court has granted an interim injunction on the release of the upcoming Tamil film Ayalaan, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan, due to financial issues involving its makers, according to a Times of India report.
Ayalaan is directed by filmmaker R Ravikumar, who previously helmed Indru Netru Naalai (2015). The upcoming film is jointly produced by RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios and Kotapadi J Rajesh’s KJR Studios banner.
According to the TOI report, a film company named Tag Entertainment has alleged that it lent 24 AM Studios an amount of Rs 5 crore towards the production cost of Ayalaan. Seeking repayment of the money along with the interest (which amounts to a total of Rs 6, 92, 50,000), the managing director of Tag Entertainment, Venkatesh, filed a petition at the HC requesting a stay on the release of Ayalaan until its makers repay the sum they owe.
After the court heard the petition, an interim stay order was passed on the release of the film until January 3, 2022. The TOI report also adds that the court adjourned the case after the production house stated that it would repay the amount as promised.

Besides Sivakarthikeyan, Ayalaan also stars actors Rakul Preet Singh, Karunakaran, Yogi Babu, Bala Saravanan, Isha Koppikar, and Bhanupriya, among others. The film has music composed by AR Rahman and cinematography by Nirav Shah, with Ruben handling the editing.
The first look of Ayalaan, featuring Sivakarthikeyan alongside an alien, was released in February 2020. But the production was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Filming resumed once the lockdown was lifted and the team announced the wrapping up of shooting in January. However, the release date of the film has not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan, who was last seen in Doctor, also has a film titled Don with director Cibi Chakravarthy.
